Приглашаем принять участие в образовательном и издательском проекте о новейшей истории стран бывшего СССР: что происходило до и после революции в Центральной Евразии, как формировались национальные республики и новые идентичности, как протекала модернизация социальных институтов и повседневной жизни в регионе, как менялись отношения центра и периферии в послевоенный период и с какими новыми вызовами столкнулись независимые республики после распада союза. Цель проекта — представить академические исследования и художественные работы, созданные за последние 10 лет.

Подготовительный этап проекта будет длиться с октября 2020 года по май 2021 года и включит в себя презентации исследований и художественных работ, посвященных культуре и истории региона. Презентации пройдут в режиме онлайн-трансляций на YouTube-канале «Сигмы» — в формате беседы или лекции. Финальным этапом работы проекта станет публикация на «Сигме» серии эссе, интервью и публицистических заметок, подготовленных по следам презентаций.

К участию в проекте приглашаются:

— Авторы — социологи, историки, теоретики культуры, а также художники и кинорежиссеры, работающие с архивными материалами и документальной хроникой. Мы планируем представить около 20 книг и монографий и 10 художественных проектов. Каждый автор, представивший свое исследование и опубликовавший текст о нем на «Сигме», получит гонорар в размере 100 EUR

— Редакторы — сотрудники вузов и культурных институций, а также независимые кураторы, следящие за передовыми гуманитарными исследованиями и актуальным искусством в регионе и готовые принять участие в онлайн-интервью и в подготовке итоговых публикаций. Вознаграждение редакторам также предусмотрено — его объем зависит от финального состава редколлегии проекта

Важно:

— Рабочим языком проекта является русский, но мы готовы предоставить авторам возможность рассказать о своем исследовании на любом другом языке. Гендер, возраст и этническая принадлежность соискателя не имеют значения

— Для нас важен фокус на Центральной Евразии (Центральная Азия, Кавказ и исламские регионы России) — но мы готовы делать исключения из этого правила

— Формат онлайн-презентаций и итоговых текстов будет уточнен в ходе общения с авторами и редакторами проекта

— Заявки принимаются до 10 сентября в виде мотивационных писем по адресу: furqat@syg.ma. В своем письме авторы должны рассказать о себе, своем исследовании, желаемом формате онлайн-презентации и итогового текста (максимум — 1000 слов). От потенциального редактора проекта ожидаем короткий рассказ о себе и предварительный список авторов, которые, по мнению соискателя, могут нам подойти (максимум — 1000 слов)

— В телеграм-канале «Ташкент-Тбилиси» будут опубликованы все анонсы презентаций и дополнительные материалы проекта.

We invite you to take part in an educational and publishing project on the recent history of the countries of the former USSR: what happened before and after the revolution in Central Eurasia, how national republics and new identities were formed, how the modernization of social institutions and everyday life in the region proceeded, how relations changed between center and periphery in the post-war period and what new challenges the independent republics faced after the collapse of the union. The aim of the project is to present academic research and artwork released in the past ten years.

The preparatory phase of the project will run from October 2020 until May 2021 and will include presentations of research and artwork on the culture and history of the region. Presentations in the format of a conversation or a lecture will be broadcast online on the Syg.ma YouTube channel. The final stage of the project will be a publication on Syg.ma that will include a series of essays, interviews, and notes derived from presentations.

We are inviting individuals from the following fields to participate:

— Sociologists, historians, cultural theorists, artists, and filmmakers working with archival materials and documentary chronicles, who are conducting research on the theme. We plan to present about twenty books and monographs, and ten art projects. Each author will receive a fee of 100 EUR after their research is submitted and published on Sygma.

— Editors, who are employed at universities or cultural institutions, as well as independent curators with an interest in advanced humanitarian research and in contemporary art of the region, who are ready to take part in online interviews and prepare final publications. There is also a fee for editors, but the amount will be confirmed after the final selection of the editorial board of the project.

The following conditions must be met for a project to be eligible:

— The working language of the project is Russian, but we are ready to provide the authors with the opportunity to speak about their research in any other language. We welcome applicants of any gender, age, or ethnicity.

— Our publishing project is mostly focused on Central Eurasia (republics of Central Asia and the South Caucasus, Muslim regions of Russia), but we are ready to make exceptions to this rule.

— The format of online presentations and final texts will be clarified through a discussion with the authors and editors of the project.

— Applications and motivation letters are accepted until September 10th at furqat@syg.ma.

— All announcements and updates will be published in the “Tashkent-Tbilisi” telegram-channel.

Authors should write a short bio, speak about their research, describe the desired format of the online presentation, and state their ideas about the final text (maximum — 1000 words). From a potential project editor we expect a short story about themselves and a preliminary list of authors who, in their opinion, may be suitable for our project (maximum — 1000 words).
