Proper formatting will not only help editors process texts faster, but will also increase the chances of the text being included in the Featured section. This guide focuses primarily on syg.ma’s technical requirements.

1. Add a title and at least one image that is relevant to the content of the article. To do this, click on the plus sign and then on the camera icon. The size of the image should not exceed 3 MB (otherwise it will not load). The optimal resolution is from 1200 pixels in height and 1400 pixels in width. The preferred format is JPEG.

An informative title as well as a relevant image (which is displayed on the site and in all social networks, messengers, and search engines) are very important for an adequate perception of the article and in order to attract the interest of readers.

2. After you add the text in the main body of the editor, the button saying “Description” will appear in the upper right hand corner. Do not forget to click it and fill in the fields in the popup window — it is very important!

In the top field you need to formulate the main idea of the article in one sentence. This is necessary for it to be displayed correctly and so that the reader can understand what the text is about. Here is an example for an article on Slavoj Žižek’s The Pervert’s Guide to Cinema: "Why does a Slovenian philosopher try to interpret the classics of cinema through psychoanalysis, and what does transference have to do with it?”

In the bottom field, add the keywords, separated by commas, that best describe the content of the article. The more words you add, the easier it will be to find your contribution online through search engines. Here is another example of keywords for an article on The Pervert’s Guide to Cinema: cinema, philosophy, psychoanalysis, Žižek.

3. When you select a piece of text in the body of the material, a bar with buttons for different design styles will appear. Do not use all of them at once, because the text becomes unreadable in this case. Most often we use the style H1 for subheadings and «» for quotes, with which you can highlight the main ideas of the text. You can also use hyperlinks to external resources and insert videos from YouTube (to do this, click on the plus sign, then the <> sign, then insert the embed code). We use square brackets for notes and write them at the end of the text.

4. We cannot guarantee that all correctly formatted articles will be included in the Featured section, as we only add contributions that we deem particularly relevant. Editors reserve the right to remove texts created for the needs of advertising and SEO, press releases, and articles that contradict the law, professional ethics, and common sense.
