Lada Pestretsova: "A Summer Night in a dream"

turquoise ether magazine22/08/22 06:06317

When thinking about tablecloths, lampshades and plaids we experience a sudden rush of euphoric emotions that create a pleasant and cozy atmosphere. Choosing a tablecloth, we think about whether it will fit into the interior and if it will suit the occasion. Tablecloths by Lada Pestretsova are such that the interior itself will fit into them! As chairs, armchairs, vases, plates and pets will become part of a fantastic world painted in black ink on the snow-white linen fabric.

Not only will the tablecloth fit any interior design but it will also allow its owner to experience the magic of turning life into art. Many artists including William Morris use the combination of art and life to make dreams come true and create new worlds.

These tablecloths by Lada Pestretsova will abolish the laws of “top” and "bottom”. It will feel like sitting somewhere between heaven and earth and if desired, you can even sit upside down. One artist, Marc Chagall struggled with the classical rules of composition construction. Using a rotating stool, he put a stretcher with a canvas on it and rotating it applied the details on to the composition. Just like a rotating stool, with Pestretsova’s table you can walk around gaining insight into the compositions of the set from different angles, resulting in a refreshing weightlessness.

The tablecloth will transport you into a new world where all the laws of universal gravitation are abandoned and you are able to rise above the earth feeling as light as a butterfly. The drawings and lines on the tablecloth not only defy all boundaries but also convey the artist’s emotions through the composition, as the fret lines add lightness to the table and everything around it.

Lada’s composition creates a weightlessness that reminds people that life is short and that everything passes by quickly. Thus the owner through the tablecloth gets the time to enjoy the world of elegant little things.

Through the tablecloth you can be whoever you want to be, whether a mammal, bird or insect, it allows you to transport into a new universe, thus creating a sensational feeling of freedom through the design. In the world of frets, the law of time does not exist.

There are even reference to Shakespeare hidden in the title of one of the compositions — “A Summer Night in a dream”.

In order to prepare for life in this strange, but no doubt brave new world, it is useful to remember Shakespeare’s play. As everything there is magical but crazy, crazy but beautiful, beautiful but impossible, and it all appears through a light and euphoric dream that you will never want to part with!

The objects in Lada’s compositions are as weightless as this dream and remind the owner that life is short so you need to use time to enjoy the little things left in the world.
