Интересно, что для выставки «What’s left of me» художница выбрала формат индивидуальных сеансов для каждого посетителя.

Оказавшись на сеансе «What’s left of me» у посетителя появляется возможность замедлиться и посмотреть в глаза своему самому глубинному страху.

Over the weekend I visited Elizaveta Berkutova’s project at BLIND SPOT. In her art, the artist combines different media: installation, video art, 3D, photography, nft, digital art and VR. It is interesting that for the exhibition “What’s left of me” the artist chose the format of individual sessions for each visitor.

The central themes in the presented installations by Elizaveta Berkutova are loss and memory. In everyday life, the topic of death is taboo; the artist approaches its study after experiencing her own traumatic story — the death of her father. In her work, Elizaveta tries to answer the question: “What does a person leave behind?”

By sculpting parts of her body from plaster, Berkutova managed to give the viewer a feeling of involvement in her most intimate experiences. In her work, Elizaveta Berkutova again and again tries to grasp her own self, peer into it and reflect. The assembled portrait inevitably falls into pieces, leaving behind only fragments and scraps of the artist’s image.

In the 21st century, the topic of death has received additional space for reflection thanks to bio-ethics. For some scientists, the process of dying has turned from a necessity into a problem that needs to be solved. And while some are thinking about digital immortality, others are paying attention to the fact that humanity has once again forgotten that life is the highest value. Today“s reality again shows how difficult it is to build and how easy it is to destroy. One of the goals of Elizabeth”s project is to remind visitors of this. Despite the fact that the awareness of one’s own finitude is frightening and paralyzing, at the same time it helps a person understand what is really important to him. Once at the “What’s left of me” session, the visitor has the opportunity to slow down and look into the eyes of his deepest fear.
